thermalsurfing1
hello EVERYONE , I HAVE FOUND SOME INTAKE MANIFOLDS FOR A EA81 THAT HAVE 2 BING PROGRESSIVE CARBS ON IT .....I WAS WONDERING IF IT WOULD WORK ON MY EA81, I HAVE A WEBER ON IT NOW, ANY INFO WOULD HELP. THANKS !
Phizinza
Proper EA81 dual carb manifold will fit a std EA81. There are EA71 dual carb manifolds however that wont. And they look very similar.
thermalsurfing1
thanks for your reply, i am looking for more horsepower and want to replace my intake manifold. i saw this on the web will it work or should i just make a carbon fiber manifold for it http://www.rotordyne.com/manifold.html it looks awesome but the price is high. oh and what is the black box in the picture. Jerry DeMoss
Looks like the black box is just a catch tank for the coolant. I have also seen some intake manifolds like the one on the spfi ea82 being converted over to a weber carb since the intake runners on that are larger than the standard ea82 and ea81. A special adapter plate would have to be made since there isn't one in production.
bobjr94
That cust. mainfold would stick out of your hood, looks quite a bit taller than the stock one. Ive had dual carbs on a 79 ea71 and on a 86 ea82, a little power gain but not much, it would probably be like 5-7 if you dynoed it, so maybe going from 73 to 80 would be the most you can expect. A single weber would probably be the same, 500$ + carb sticking out of the hood may not be worth 5hp. Cheapest thing is just use an adapter & weber. Phizinza
Yes, single webers are known for similar power increase in normal RPM (800-5000). What gives the dual carb motors more power is actually the different heads with reversed valves and the different cam which is shaped for high end power. Not just the manifold and carbs. thermalsurfing1
does anyone have a picture of a carbon fiber manifold for a ea81 ? i am confused on how the water outlet from the engine is going to get to the radiator or how does the radiator hose hook to the manifold or engine ? here is the link to the carbon fiber manifold i want to make http://www.subarubrat.com/manifold.htm
Phizinza
I assume the box in the photo (in the link posted earlier) is a radiator box, as in the piping from the manifold goes into it and there is a pipe from it to the radiator. Well that's what it looks like
