lacey4ever
Hi all, I have a 02 OBW LLB with the standard equip stereo with the amp that is fixed under the passenger seat, and something like 8 speakers. Before I bought my car I test drove the VDC and loved the McIntosh sound system, and would like to upgrade my stereo with the McIntosh. In terms of sound quality, is replacing the stereo but keeping the existing speakers a waste of money? Also does anyone know if you're just swapping one for the other are the connections the same, so it's just a matter of unplugging the old stereo and plugging in the new one? Thanks
mdjdc
If you can find one made for Subaru, then it should be plug and play. If it is aftermarket, then you will have to get an adapter plug
subyfreak
I have a 01 OB LLB and am also interested in this swap. The McIntosh stereo is a great sounding setup compared to what we have.
lacey4ever
Yes, I would be using the McIntosh unit they put in the VDC models. As for the speakers....I wouldn't think the speakers they put in the McIntosh equiped Subs would be the same ones that my car came with, and not sure how to find that out. Obviously want the best sound possible but not thrilled about taking things all apart to add different speakers. Would the difference in sound quality be worth the trouble?
