eknomf
I'm helping my brother buy a car and he is thinking about getting a brat. There is a local one that comes with a parts car. We don't have a place to store an entire car so I'm wondering what parts are tough to find/worth stripping before selling or crushing the shell. Are all the engine pieces the same for anything with the ea81 motor? What about 4x4 parts - are those brat specific? Finally if anyone knows of any nice brats besides what has been posted in the PNW let me know.
devildog78brat
i would keep the carb. its like 250 for a new one and like 230 to get it rebuilt so thats an expensive part. other than that i think everything is pretty simple. but if you have an extra strut mount for the front let me know ill buy one from you. my auto shop said he cant order them at all. YellowSub
These are some parts that seemed hard or expensive to get. At least I thought so. If they are good... lenses (tail light, parking, etc) plastic interior parts like door handle trim, ashtray, visors shift knobs dash (good luck in AZ) fuel pump (don't know if they store well though) chrome trim around bed (good to have extra just in case) axles (I just spent $120 on each) logo caps on wheels (not expensive or hard to find, but small enough to store just in case) Really, I would recommend storing as much as you can. It's only going to get harder to find parts.
bheinen74
can i say that i think you are *****tarded for considering crushing a Brat shell....just let someone with space have it
rsb
I guess in part it depends on wether it is a generation 1 brat or a generation 2 brat. For a generation 1 brat, it dosent matter if it is brat specific or not, if it can be removed and is salvagable it is worth saving as most parts are unavailable. If it is a generation 1... I could use a shift knob, drivers side tail light, a dent free tailgate, and a distributor that is not worn out.
YellowSub
If you decide to crush it, let me know. I have a lot of space for it.
kingwill
Other good parts are front fenders, windshield, If you have a A-bar or roll bar or some other parts like rear seats, rear seat belts, even the the rear seat bracket. (you may need to cut that out). Tail lights and blinkers. If the trans is good. and hey the engine is good too if you have the space.
