I am going to look at one this weekend and the owner does not know,he got for resale only.I do have a Vin #JF1GF2446PB801994 if this helps. strat Posted December 12, 2008 Share Posted December 12, 2008 ask the owner to look under the rear of the car to see if there is a diff or just look for one when you go to look at it this weekend. normally, the older subarus had some kind of awd badging whether in the form of an actual badge or a sticker on one of the rear windows. Most usually had a 1.8 engine, few (if any) had a 2.2. 2WD were even available as a 5 speed or Auto as well. The VIN does help... JF1 = FHI passenger vehicle G = Impreza F = Impreza sport wagon 1993 2 = 1800cc Impreza 1993-94 4 = "L" model 4 = Passenger manual belt & airbag 1993-94 6 = Check digit = no meaning P = 1993 B = FHI 5 speed manual transmission 1990-97 801001 & after = Impreza wagon 1995 (I think my book has a type-o) Either way, looks like you got a EJ18 with a 2WD 5 speed trans.
