Uncle Ed
87 GL WG, 3at, 4wd, swaped in EA81, stock Alternator went bad so I've done the MAXIMA upgrade, its Carbed, Non-feedback so no ECM under steering, and no green connectors on firewall or drivers kick panel that I've been able to find. And disconnecting the battery didn't work. any other ideas? :-\ Unc Edited December 29, 2008 by Uncle Ed
MilesFox
there should be some sort of connector under the dash, that when you plug them together, resets the light. they may be white plugs on black wires. the light is manually tripped by the odometer at 60,000 mi. if you take the gauge cluster out you will see a switch activated by a cam on the odometer reels. cheap dealer service trick, really
hooziewhatsit
IIRC, there should be a set of three connectors. Two of them should be connected now. Just disconnect them and switch it to the currently unconnected one. I don't know offhand what color they should be, but they should have only one wire going to each connector. Or, open the cluster, and take out the switch. -Dave
Uncle Ed
Ok, as soon as the better half gets home from her work I'll take a look. pulling the switch sounds like the best bet .Thanks both of you. Unc

To reset, you had to pull the instrument cluster (PITA), pull a screw (more of a PITA) and put it in the hole next to the one you pulled it from. Then you have to put the cluster back in place while using your third and fourth hands to reconnect the shift indicator- Mine was permanently on park. However the connectors are kinda hard to get to. They are tucked up almost above the main harness behind fuse box, up against the far edge of the underside of the dash. I think White? But perhaps green. there is probably tape over one or both of them. NOT the 2 blue, further up, that should be connected(those are the clock memory)
Durania
First attempt should be finding the under dash connectors. I thought the EA81 cluster was as much fun as a root canal to pull and replace. If you do have to go this route, replace the cluster bulbs that are burned out if any.
