85 Brat won't start??

Recommended Posts

I am new here. Have been reading and watching the board for a while. Tried to sale my brat a while back and deal fell thru. Anyway mine is not getting any gas to carb. Where is the fuel pump. Something sounds as if it is running somewhere around the carb, when i turn the switch on, but i can't seem to find it?? Has been running perfect up to this point. This is my third subaru i have owned. May sale this one when i get it running. Thanks for any help..

Welcome to the board!

Try looking under the rear passenger side for a series of fuel lines going from the tank area to a metal plate. That plate should have your fuel pump and a rear filter on top of it.

Glenn,

82 Hatch, well it used to be

01 Forester, bent but not broken........

your the one if i remember correctly was the one crying because he couldn't be a moderator huh sonny

I have NO idea where that came from - and if you would like to ask around, I have made it VERY clear to several people (including mods) that I don't wish to EVER be a mod. sheesh....

You do NOT remember correctly - in fact - your wrong on pretty near everything in this thread....

Oh - and for the sake of not hijacking this thread further - I quit this silly conversation.

Mouth-Off

the fuel pump will be located just behind the passenger side rear wheel. there will be a filter at the pump, as well as one under the hood.

you can hardwire the fuel pump to a switch on the dash, if you prefer the wiring can be run in thru a grommet behind the drivers seat. all of the fuel lines run ino the body thru this grommet.

The fuel pump on my 1985 Brat is located on the driver's side under the bed just behind the cab.

They are controlled by a Fuel Pump Control Unit and only pump while cranking to start and when the engine is running.

(If the engine fails to fire, the pump will operate for approx 2 seconds after releasing the key)

Here is a picture that was shot holding the camera at the driver's side rear wheel, shooting forward at a slight upward angle.
