lostinthe202
In my post here, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=94470 Gloyale mentions that many part places have incorrect listing for parts due to the similarity of subaru names (GL, DL) among different motors and several trans options. For example, a clutch I was looking at on feebay was actually for an ea81 and not for my GL10 at all. So my question is, short of having the old one in hand to compare, what features can I use to see if the clutch I'm getting is correct? spline count? diameter? favorite flavor of ice cream? And, can anyone recommend an online source that is reliable in terms of shipping the correct part? This is for an '88 GL10 (turbo ea82) Thanks! bheinen74
if the clutch kit i just ordered for the BRAT turns out wrong, then maybe someone will get a bargain from me too. I am guessing a 50/51 chance its right....
lostinthe202
haha, well if your clutch ends up being for an 88 GL10, let me know! Will-
Numbchux
RockAuto.com they've got an awesome parts listing, and are extremely accurate with parts (haven't found any incorrect listings yet...). I'm running a Beck/Arnley clutch that I got from RockAuto in my car. it's new, not remanufactured, comes with bearings, and alignment tool as well. I've put about 20k hard miles on mine with the EJ22, and it's held up quite well.

Major Lazy
OK, i've read these threads and just cant seem to sort this out. I am looking for an inexpensive clutch kit for the RX. I went to Rockauto and the cheapest 2 are described like this: BRUTE POWER Part # 92034C More Info {Cover Type: Diaphragm; 7 7/8x21Tx7/8 #92034B} 2WD; Diaphragm; 7 7/8x21Tx7/8 ACDELCO Part # 381673 {replaces 88989713 #19182661, 88989713} PLATE KIT,CLU PRESS & DRVN (with CVR) [uS vehicles]; w/2WD; DIAPHRAGM 7 7/8X21TX7/8 I cant even decipher the #'s...is it 7 7/8 " diam, 21 spline, 7/8" thick? The fact that it says 2wd scares me. I know someone said Rockauto has never been wrong, but it would not surprise me if i was the first. I went to the valeo site and it does not list the RX, just an 1800 then has a turbo option but that one is described like this: 8 7/8 x 1 x 24 , 4WD; Turbo ,52254801 Something is not right here....(could be me) Can anyone tell me if these will fit my car? Update: just realized I could go measure the clutch...DUH. Its a 8 7/8" diameter, 24 spline so i think rock auto is wrong. so if I match those #'s I should be OK?? Its a 8 7/8" diameter, 24 spline so i think rock auto is wrong. so if I match those #'s I should be OK?? rockauto is exactly right. and, as those part descriptions say, they're for 2WD cars. if your car is not 2WD, that will not work. they have been wrong, I've found a couple mis-listings. but they're the most reliable. the nice thing is they have complete listings like that, with dimensions and stuff, so you can make sure it's the right part number. Major Lazy
Thx Numb, yea that makes sense. The only thing was I looked up the RX to get those #'s and Im pretty sure they never came 2wd, but at least like you say they did specify. I guess the 1" is the inner diameter of the shaft so if I match my dimensions all else should work out correct? ie all pressure plates/bearings with the 8 7/8" x 1" x 24 spline clutch will fit other cars with the same size clutch disc? Thx again
