Loud Wipers on my EA81

Recommended Posts

The brat had that problem, I never did fix it. But yeah, it's just the whole mechanical assembly under the valance needing grease. Probably universal stuff would be good enough as far as I know. I once sprayed it with wd40 to make it go away temporary.

Heres your fix :

Remove the wiper arm nuts and then the wiper arms themselves.

Remove the slotted metal cowling from behind the wipers.

The metal pivots that the wiper arms attach to are pressed through white plastic housings. Remove the hardware that attaches these, and pull them free.

It is a specific lack of grease INSIDE these that creates the squeaking.

Its not a bad job really... and you should only have to do it once.

.... worked for me!

The skipping is also due to lack of/dried up grease. Pull the cowling under the wipers and clean/regrease every plastic ball joint. Made a big difference on my hatch.

Also they make some "helper springs" - not sure what they are called but you can ask renob123 (Jacob) - he has a pair on his Brat. That can help with the wipers skipping area's or floating at higher driving speeds.
