Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Oh my God! ... it is So Sad! :-\ Maybe they Steal Old Cars to do illicit activities and then left them abandonned ... unfortunately that happens very often here!

Pontiac6KSTEAWD
I think you are going to be surprised that most of those old cars are going to be found in a junkyard. The economy the way it is, and the price of steal still bringing in a OK penny. People are just trying to pay their heating bills anymore. The junk yards are now starting this thing where you dont need a title, just bring in the car, and they give you cash/check. I imagine its only working on the older cars, as a newer car would be to suspicious.
monstaru
maybe around you they do that.but there is only one "yard" around here that will accept anything without a title.and you have to know where it is,know the owner, and sure as hell not tell anyone where it is. the laws are very strict in washington when it comes to that.and the paperwork best be in order around here.most likely it is as jeszek said, kids wanting to do something stupid and leaving it abandoned later.of course it is usually in the woods here.so it will probably not be found by someone that cares enough.cheers, brian I think you are going to be surprised that most of those old cars are going to be found in a junkyard. bratman18
In Maine you only have to have a title if it is older than 15 years old!
TomRhere
In Michigan, if it don't "resemble" a vehicle, you don't need Title to scrap it. So split it down the middle, cut it in half sideways, and you can haul it over the scales, no questions asked. Sorta glad I own BRAT's in a way. Most every police officer in a 50 mile radius knows who owns them......... Wife drove the '86 a couple weeks ago, got pulled over cause the sherriff knew there was something wrong with the picture he was seeing. IE; wrong person behind the wheel.... Boy, was she POed. But again, she was happy that they were that observant.....
wallaby
The theft of copper and other metals is a $1 billion /year industry in the US (just an interseting tidbit)
bheinen74
rusty cars don't weigh as much, over the years, the metal falls off them driving the potholed roads..and the occasional bumper that rots off the frame, i see them, on the sides of roads every now and then. ..that applies to iowa back on topic, hope you find the car. subyrally
The theft of copper and other metals is a $1 billion /year industry in the US(just an interseting tidbit) not too far from where i work, i heard that someone jacked an entire spool of heavy gauge copper wire from a verizon supply yard. they must have had a tractor to do it, those arent at all light, lol. ballsy move though
Yo'J
Around here they found the evidence of someone trying to steal some heavy copper wire. It was live, running 405volts. They found the hacksaw in the line with a melted handle. No trace of any person though!rofl
SOOBOUTLAW
Old Subarus (and alot of other foreign cars) are really easy to steal cuz the crappy door and ignition locks. My buddy can open my Brat with his Subaru key. I can do the same with his Hatch. Used to be able to start my old wagon with a pocketknife or screwdriver (I bypassed it when it went out and now use a toggle switch and push button start so nobody can drive it but me). My old wagon got stolen like 8 years ago by using a key in the ignition. He had to bust out two windows to get in though. I had an old Tercel that was also stolen several years ago by some drug addict(s) by jiggling a key. I can even get into my brother's Probe and start it with my old wagon's key. I usually park my vehicles in the back yard behind a locked gate, with a clear shot with a .22 subsonic(so the neighbors won't get freaked out). Way too many drug addict losers in my hood. The Beast I Drive
One of the things I really love about living in the country, In the unlikely event that someone decides to steal my car from my house, theyd have to get through my gate somehow, and youd pretty much need a semi to get through that thing. And, If i catch them, you can bet they will be staring down the wrong end of my .45. I HATE car theives, and theives in general. Low life scum. I hope this car gets recovered in one piece with minimal damage. -Bill

RdNkBrt
just a thought, you might want to at least give a call to the local scrap yards just to give them a heads up.... offer them a reward or something so that they might actually care.... i doubt it will make it this far, but i'll keep an eye out in hood river...
