Shipping a Subaru - What do you think?

Recommended Posts

Go to google and do a serch on car transporting, I got a quote once to ship an EA81 wagon from MO to OR for $435. I don't remember the CO.:( but that was door to door, and it was only 5-4 mo. ago.

Other than that, U might talk to a large car lot chain with lots in each place and see if there is any chance they would ship it for ya for less. (I did that once with Lithia)

Hook it up behind the U-Haul truck, load the Subie on the trailer ... and then fill it up with all the stuff that wouldn't fit in the van!

You're probably not going to find a shipping price that would make it 'financially' viable to keep the car ... emotionally, that's another issue.

WHen I moved about 6 months ago, the average price to haul a car from WA to TX was around $1000. So I sold or gave away all the cars except the turbowagon. Loaded all of our posessions on to a semi cargo trailer.. that turned out to be a touch cheaper than renting a Uhaul, plus I didn't have to drive it...

then I drove the soob to TX.. PM me if you want more details

LegacyT, you're going to have to ask someone at the Canadian Department (Ministry?) of Transportation for a list of "registered gray market importers" that will be able to modify your RX to meet Canadian specs for instrumentation and markings (the door jamb labels will have to be changed, as will the instrument cluster). In the States (Canada to USA) only importers are authorized to legally convert cars.

If I were you, I'd keep looking...
