sprale
Anyone around here done any EA to EJ engine swaps? I have an '88 GL with a carb'd EA82 that I'm putting back together. The body is in great shape for its age, so I'll keep it either way. If the engine ends up being less than reliable, I'll probably look at a FI EJ-series engine. I've heard that there's an adapter plate to mount to the EA tranny. Any other major issues to consider? Any completed swaps with long-term impressions? Any completed swaps with long-term impressions? alot have been done do a search and you will see , you will need the EJ harness with computer, a adapter ring, a redrilled EA82 flywheel, with that carbed fuel pump will need replaced with a higher presure FI pump, a electric pusher fan in front of the radiator as theres no room behind it, I sell these parts
idosubaru
tons of info, including a complete write up. the search function should pull up all sorts of stuff. just be creative since "EA" and "EJ" won't work in the search. it doesn't like 2 and 3 letter terms. so try "conversion". also, i think the write up is in the USRM. the USRM and Retrofit forum should help here. there's even folks here that do the wiring work for you. and i think there's a thread of "Who's who of EJ swaps" or something like that. lots of swap info.
