OBW heated seat and radio not working

Recommended Posts

Would the air bags going off in anyway effect the radio or the heated seats? I'm wondering if it somehow disables them? 2002 OBW

Fuses appear fine

Pulled the passengers seat and the seat wiring and amplifier wiring all looks good.

the radio has power and the face lights up, it'll switch between radio and change stations...but there's nothing coming out of the speakers.

Any tips on what to do next? Is there a way to test this amplifier? It's the McIntosh stereo system.

And the heated seats aren't working.

Stereo problem....We get a fair number of these complaints about the stereo....ALOT of the time surprisingly all the speakers are blown/inop...i just replaced 3 speakers the other day in a 2002 OBW all blown....If i was in your position...if you have a working test speaker i would pull one of the door panels and hook it up to see if it works....:) ( i know it seems like an unlikely problem but its more common than people think...at least from what ive seen)

I forget, was this car in a crash?

Drivers side seat heater commonly fails from us dragging our buts in and out of the seat repeatedly.

Also the G force of an impact and the shifting of a body can do the same thing.

yeah give it a whirl its the last thing i was going to check also..but our master tech came over and told me it happens quite often so sure i enough i checked the speakers and vola....we replace with the stock speakers unless the customer requests otherwise....personally (despite what most people think about Sony speakers) I have sony xplod's in my legacy (i have had them for about a year or two) and i havent been gentle on them and they still work very well...of course you could always go the big money route and buy some nice Alpines or Rockfords....:)

yes this was the 2002 OBW that i installed new air bags and seat belts in.

i'll check to see if/where the relays are for the seats. and if maybe it's just the drivers side that doesn't work.

  • 1 month later...

The McIntosh stereo wasn't working. I pulled it today and the plugs are still identical to other Subaru's. So I plugged in an older one i had in the garage and got sound.

Didn't seem like any sound was coming from the back, just the fronts. But I didn't really play with it very much either.

In a wagon, the rear speakers are in the back doors?
