SuperchargedRS
Ok, so I have read everything on this forum that I could find on brakes on my 90 loyale.... BUT when I tried install my front pads I get the drivers side on after I learned the screw the piston in thing. HOWEVER the pass side wont go in, I'm turning it clockwise and no go, park brake cable released, even have the master cyclinder cap open and the bleeder open, it turns but nothing... the brakes worked fine, they just squeaked as the indicator was rubbing. can anyone HELP ME!!!!!!! Thanks S
NoahDL88
Push and twist? Where are you located, maybe a USMB local can come check it out for you
Numbchux
one of my 200SX rears is the same way. ebrake doesn't work, and piston doesn't thread back in. so I'm guessing the piston is stripped. if you find a way around it, let me know. I tried some pressure from a c-clamp AND rotating it. still no luck.
Loyale 2.7 Turbo
I Came Across the Same Problem, but not in a Subie, it was in an Old Datsun I`ve Repaired... it was the Piston, so I Used Penetrating Oil to make it Move, I Taked it Out and used very Fine Sandpaper to remove the Rust, it worked great... Maybe that Idea could Help You.

bratman18
If you end up needing another caliper I'm sure someone could hook you up with a decent used one. They are pretty common. I used to have several!
monstaru
the caliper rebuild kit is like 11 bucks from napa.very, very, very simple to do.and you'll learn which way to twist them as well.:grin:cheers, brian
SuperchargedRS
Ok, so I put new calipers on the car and that did that, only thing was some grinding (as the pads get to know the rotors), which has all but gone away... HOWEVER I still get the grinding when I turn left?? any ideas? Does that shound like anything, or will it burn off? (the car didnt do that before the install). -S
bratman18
Maybe a wheel bearing going bad which is making it grind on the pad when the weight is transferred? Try jacking up on the corner that makes the noise and trying to wiggle the wheel.
SuperchargedRS
Well it didnt make that sound before and I didnt notice any excessive free play during taking the wheel on and off during the brake upgrade. hmmm?
Frank B
Double check that the pads are square on the rotors. like this l l , not this l / . exaggerated, but you get the point. If you don't get them and the little metal clips on right, it will bind. Also check to make sure everything is tight!
