silo118
No you can't just change the intake and the exhoust. The pistons are a dish type, to compinsate for the force feeding of the turbo. You would have to pull the heads off, then pull the pistons, and replace them with the stock non turbo pistons. If you are interested in a EA81 i have one and am willing to sell it for 450 its a good used one. email me at silo118@hotmail.com
bigwhite4x4
what would it take to put the ea81t in my car
silo118
To do a transplant you would need a bigger radiator, oil cooler, not to mention the computer system, and full wiring harness, it is all doable, just depends on how much time you want to put into it. I just built a ea81t for a brat, i hope to plumb it into the car by next friday. Yesterday i did a head gasket job on a ea82 and had it back in the car that same night, and delivered it to the costumer at 8 oclock this morning. I personally believe subarus are by far the easiest vehicles to work on.
subaruguru
if its anything like an ea82 turbo you can swap all the turbo stuff with your NA stuff and it should work fine it did on my ea82 i did have to swap the heads from my na motor as the turbo heads are duel port intake and the na is single port intake
silo118
do you still have the ea82 turbo model heads??
abog
The turbo engines have lower compression ( not sure of the numbers off the top of my head ), when used in a non turbo setting would definitely be lacking power.

And get yourself a real turbo engine. GD
