thermalsurfing1
so i removed the coil overs a while ago and put the longer ranchos on we added a 4" lift to the rear to level it out . now the rear diff seems low and the tires are angled. i can lift the rear very easily and the tires with straten out. what the heck is going on ? help !! i think my torsion bar is broke or a need a diff lift. bratman18
yeah sounds like the torsion bar is no good. You should put the rear coilovers back in.
thermalsurfing1
wont the coil overs be to short with the 4" lift. can i buy longer coil overs from a aftermarket place ?
bratman18
yes they will be short but that's why you build some blocks for the rear. I think there is a how to on subarubrat.com or subazero.com There is a good pick on subazero.com Go under subaru build and suspension.
88RxTuner
+1 on building spacers and installing coil-overs. This would be the best route to go in the long run anyway, given the ease of maintenance and 'tunability' of the shocks if you decide to change them. Possibly build new spring seats on the aftermarket shocks? Maybe one of those "Ebay" universal coil-over kits? (no experience here, just an idea...) The Beast I Drive
I can build you a set of 4" brakets to mount those coilovers, as long as you are using EA82 rear coilovers. PM me if interested. -Bill
Phizinza
Coilovers screw up the suspension travel you can get out of the torsion bar setup. I'd say get a new set of torsion bars and keep you good long travel shocks. Also you might want to check the torsion bar adjuster bolt, as there are two bars and if both are broken I find that hard to believe. Perhaps someone took the adjuster out so the torsion bars didn't work so they could run coilovers with it?
