Rust
just picked up a 91 loyale 2wd wagon parts car. It has a 2" wide spoiler attached to the top of the back hatch door. Any-one know why these were installed on some models, and do they serve a purpose. The car also has slats and cargo racks on the roof, so I assume it was some sort of trim package that came from the factory.....the hubcaps are also held on by the lug bolts. So whats the spoiler for? Did loyale's actually go that fast to need one when new?
slideshow86
It uses air passing over the car to help keep the rear window clear. I have one on my wagon and didnt really notice that it worked till I put a roof rack on there and blocked the air flow.
bheinen74
it uses air deflection to keep rear car tire spray back from going to the glass, as the above states.
frompkin
Having added one to mine, I can safely state that it is a good thing. It does a great job of keeping dust, snow, rain, and small children from sticking to the back window. And if you're as cheap as I am, it keeps the back window much cleaner then the 10 year old windshield wiper back there.
Rust
thanxs for the info. I'll give it a try on my daily driver. Now, can it keep the oil and grease from building up on the tailgate?
