OEM EJ thermostats are costing me about $20 bucks out here. Did anyone notice that that ad was a listing for the EA71 engine, from 70-79? Wrong year, and I still wouldn't trust it. They are not that much different price wise and I and a majority of the board swear by them. If you look at the supplier, that probably is the same as the OE thermostat. Looks like a decent part, has the jiggle valve. I don't like the cheap aftermarket ones, just because without the little jiggle valve it is a pain to get the coolant filled and the air out.
