snowmobile
My 87 wagon will idle at 750 for about the first 15min of driving then it kind of hovers around 1000-1200. I need it to stay under 1000 as I just bought this car and need to make it through emissions for dept of lic. Any help would be great. oh it is carbed thanks, new sub owner. Loyale 2.7 Turbo
Welcome! Check for Loosen / Unplugged Vacuum Lines, might be some of the Vacuum Hoses could be Cracked due to Age, if so I Suggest to Replace them. Also it could be a Stickin` Gas Cable... to test it, when your Subie`s Idle RPM`s stay High, Try to Pull Back the Accelerator Cable, if it Reset the Idle Speed back again to Under 1,000 That is the Problem. Sometimes it Fixes with some Penetrating Oil Sprayed down the Cable Plus installing another Return Spring in the Carb; other times the Cable itself could be Damaged and shall be Changed; Test it by Hand. The Third Option is the Choke... it might be getting too Loose and can Stick open when your subie Already is Warm... Check it just by Seeing its Position after Warm up, try to get it Back manually and see if that Helps. At Last: a Clogged Air Filter could bring Higher Warm RPM`s too... Hope this can Help. Kind Regards.
