Jibs
Has anyone ever attempted or have completed a 5 lug swap using xt6 bits on a gen 1 Brat? I tried searching, but didn't come up with much. Thanks.

Jibs
I read the post, and he's using a "secret" retrofit project in the rear it seems, and is using rs knuckles in front. I'm not sure if he's using the setup that is offered from one of the member's (I can'tremember his name or his website) from australia. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the xt6 five lug stuff. I'll keep checking.
Caboobaroo
I bet since you can do a rear disc swap on a gen 1, you should be able to do the XT6 parts in the rear, maybe with a little modification to the trailing arms because of clearance issues. fron you should be able to ream the balljoint hole and modify the strut tower to accept the XT6 struts but the axles, I don't have a clue. Hybrid maybe?
Jibs
Yeah I was thinking the rears wouldn't be too much of a hassle, but I haven't looked at the differences in the front yet. There's an xt6 at the junkyard and I'm thinking of grabbing the 5 lug stuff from it to test it out.
Caboobaroo
do it, if you get it to work, then that'll be awesome. If not, you can always sell the parts and recoup your money from it. SHouldn't be too hard though, just some time and ingenuity:banana:
Zefy
I read the post, and he's using a "secret" retrofit project in the rear it seems, and is using rs knuckles in front. I was wondering if anyone has experience with the xt6 five lug stuff. I'll keep checking. it's not really a "secret"... it's just i don't want to post up a bunch of false info if it doesn't work the way it should... but yes here is what needs to happen for the front (or what i did). custom shortened 2.5rs axles (from rguyver... 25 spline for RX trans) along with the control arms from australia and shortened 2.5rs tie rod ends. i used the longer 2.5rs tie rods and shortened them because i find it's easier to shorten something than lengthen something. stock tie rods will fit, but are to short. coilovers or something with smaller dia. springs are required for this as impreza springs are to large to fit in the towers without rubbing. Also a stock impreza top mount does not fit through the hole in the strut tower so either you modify stock brat top mounts or use flat mount camber plates. I opted for the second option because i like tasty tasty camber. rear to come... still in the R&D phase. (ie. build it, measure, scrap... refine design... rebuild... etc...) also if anybody has any ideas for the rear i would love to hear them!
Jibs
When pulling the 5 lug bits, there's one part that was confusing me at the yard. The part that is at the bottom of the strut. that actually bolts it to the knuckle. Does it come off the strut, or is it part of the strut itself? It also holds the brake line to the strut. PoorManzImpreza
it is part of the strut.. Kaz
