Recommended Posts

I figured I would throw this up here to try to help satisfy my curiosity. Does anybody here have any knowledge or experiance with these trucks? They are supposed to be coming to the U.S. soon and I just curious what they are like, build quality, reliability, performance, ect.... Real honest opinoins, please no flaming.

Lets see, professionally speaking, how can I sum it up?

JUNK!

They dont have a good reputation for anything really. India they will drive a car as long as the drive wheels will propel it, and that same engineering is carrying over.

They will make Yugo look like a top notch product (I researched it, as i liked the looks of the truck).

had to reply to this one....

mahindra made a jeep like vehicle and bought it to australia in the 90's

it was pretty much junk

every other country has high efficiency diesel engines available in all kinds of vehicles but not in USA:mad:

in Australia we can get small trucks(toyota, mitsubishi, mazda etc) with exceptional turbo diesel power - my brother has a mitsubishi with a 2.8 intercooled turbo diesel that drives great those engines are also avialable in SUVs as well as the cars like VW and peugot

just my *************** for the day

Diesels are coming. Older diesels are sooty machines and for some reason untill recently the rest of the world didnt mind breathing in the soot. We seemed to have a problem with it as it blocked our smog. Europe did not have a partciculate standard on diesel exhaust untill recently.

But also the gasoline engine isnt down and out yet either.

My 2001 VW TDI STINKS - I'd much rather smell Diesel fumes.

VW put some sort of catalytic converter on it. It really STINKS.

I just bought a 99 a week or so ago - another TDI - smells like Diesel fumes - I like it!
