awd a/t the rear tires dont want to kick in. was in the snow you will sit there spining and when the rear tires deside kick in makes a nice loud clonk then they work or on a wet road it dose the same thing more gas you give it less noise it makes. is there a way to fix it or should i look for a new trans

This could be a multiple systems failure... Solenoid "C", worn transfer clutch packs, bad seal on shaft allowing fluid to pass, not building pressure. All could be fixed at the same time... Leaving the trans in the car too.

Yes, it refers to torque bind, which you have the opposite of. The steps involved to repair are similar.

It is probably just really worn clutches. Happens.

 

Try 1st gear starts, is it the same?

 

Also fresh good fluid could help.

 

If you just want quick dirty 4wd, a switch on the C solenoid wire to disconnect it will send full pressure to the clutches and lock even worn ones.
