pattons3rd
I´m an auto body guy so I need help with engine stuff. I know enough that I pulled the EJ18 out gave it a good over. Its a good engine but I want to pull as many ponies from it as I can. I was wondering if its feasible to keep the EJ18 or if I should swap an EJ22 and pull ponies from that. I know that its kind of odd to make a station wagon "cool" but its something I have always wanted its getting painted candy apple red custom made body kit by me cowl induction hood made by me. I´m going to remove all emblems have the Subaru crest in gold pearl on the hood ghost effect and STi ghost emblem on tail gate. I will be posting pics when I start. I don´t want to start the body until I know exactly what I will be getting with the engine. Any engine help with the EJ18 or ideas what I should do engine wise. I have already ordered several STi parts to add onto my car. but am still looking for STi rims that I saw on a forrester in japan. Edit: I want to keep it an all wheel drive with high/low. I live in Iceland and will use this car a lot during snow and traveling in the country. it will be lowered but will be able to raise it back up and put something other than street tires under it. Flowmastered87GL
Interesting.... Here in the US all our legacies are 2.2 liters, But dont have the dual range AWD Easiest HP gains will be freeing up the intake and exhaust some.
pattons3rd
hey, I´m originally from the states and am big on american muscle and keeping things for the most part stock. My original plan for first gen legacy was to drop a chevy 4.3 and turn it into a rear wheel drive but my ideas have changed especially after moving to where there is a lot of snow and ice and found AWD to be all important. I am making plans to keep the 1800 just for money reasons even though I can get a 2200. I have plans for custom exhaust and intake and looking all over the net for any help on anything else I can do to get the hp up. I have access to a small machine shop so... monstaru
drop cams in a 2.2,port and polish the intake .build or have built a custom exhaust header. aside from building a custom engine ,this is pretty much where you are headed with your build.cams are like a couple hundred, exhaust is like 3 or 400,port and polish is spendy but you could defenitely do it yourself. i would go with the 2.2.cheers, brian
