simbey1982
Got at P0340 Cam position sensor code and am going to replace the sensor. I see 16 diffrent brands as well as the OE one ranging from $32 to $85. Seems to me that the magnetic sensor either works or it doesnt.... So any thoughts or discussion on wether OEM or Bosch or X brand is better when it comes to sensors? Cory

davebugs
Bump. I usually have enough used ones laying around that I've never purchased a cam or crank sensor. Just knock sensors (which there are many #'s of).
simbey1982
hmm seems like it doesnt matter since i there is no passionate response either way..
ericem
Looks like alot of sensors are bosch. Id go bosch. Of course the ultimate recommendation is stick to OEM...
davebugs
I've got some used cam sensors if you're interested. I'd imagine others would as well. Crank sensors are a little harder to come by - a lot of the time they are gaulded in there pretty good and break when trying to remove them. Certainly easy enough to change. nipper
Sheesh, poeple have other things to do then sit around and look at the computer all day, chill out and give people a chance to respond. It depends upon the sensor. Hall effect sensors it doesnt seem to matter. This is a hall effect sensor. The more exotic the sensor, the better it is to go with OE (like O2 sensors). nipper
Pontiac6KSTEAWD
For magnetic type sensors, anything really.. After that, I stay away from anything Bosch, except for plug wires. They simply were not designed for american/japanese cars in mind.
simbey1982
Thanks for the input. Nipper, not being impatient...just judging from the fact that i didnt have 6or7 posts right away about one or the other then it didnt really matter.... you know if i posted about if i should use an OEM or aftermarket timing belt the response id get...cheers
