RAugur33
Is this possible? Would like to have split rear seat to carry another person up the ski mountain. Anyone ever try this?
davhaney
I was going to post this very same question! I've seen such seats in (I think) volvo wagons, and wondered if an outback could be fittted with such a thing.

EA82 seats may need modified to fit in EA81. But hey, I modified 92 Legacy turbo sedan rear seat into my little EA81 sedan. Hooray for passthrough trunk access!!! davhaney
Gloyale -- oops you're right. What I was thinking about was a 3rd-row rear facing seat.
RAugur33
Anyone have a spare set of rear hatch seats in the Portland, OR area?
mountaingoatgruff
i've been wondering about this since all i could find to replace my hatch's tore up rear seat was a wagon seat. btw, hatchback seats are much lighter and my 84's bench didn't fold up, the backs would come down and only so far. i guess they intended for the user to remove the two bolts and take the whole cushion out to completely lay the seat backs flat in a hatchback. RAugur33
Found this in an old post. mudrat79 Banned Join Date: Aug 2003 City: Eugene, Age: 37 Posts: 697 Too different.... I attempted to stick a set of Hatch split seats in a wagon, and width is different, plus bracketry and where it all has to mount is way different and in wrong locations......due to hatch and wagon having different seat elevation to start with....... Sorry Dante..... Later, John in Eugene.....

TheSubaruJunkie
On a hatchback, the rear wheel fenders are right where the rear seats are. This means the rear bench isn't as wide as a wagons rear bench. It could probably be done, but would look kinda goofy.
