snowstormer
i was driving my wifes 91 loyale today. 3at auto 124k was working perfect. recent fluid and filter change a month ago. goin about 30 mph and lost forward motion. stopped car and looked underneath, couple qts of fluid spewing on the ground... now it has no forward or reverse. think its terminal? its about -10 below out right now, won't look at it till tomorrow. :(
northguy
Pull it in the garage, put an elephant tampon under it (or a large drainpan) and see if you can locate the point of leakage. It sounds like a bad seal or something that may have cracked in the cold. The recent fluid change is somewhat suspicious and the meager amount of miles, unless you've been doing some neutral drop burnouts, should indicate it didn't just suddenly die. Turbone
Maybe even a cooling line came loose. Rob
TROGDOR!
Cooling line is a good bet. That would allow all the spewage. Since auto trannies are hydraulic... if there's no fluid, there's no pressure, and the car won't go. Cooling lines are on the driver's side of the tranny, behind the bellhousing. One is on a tube that comes up near the starter and the other comes directly out of the side of the trans.
