chadwick35/04
Ok was wondering if anyone had any ideas for me? 2004 Subaru legacy 41k on it, had the driver's side window motor repalced last year do to it failing and making bad noise, so now when I push the button to bring it down it makes a bad scratching noise like a rock scratching glass, damn it sounds bad, it's going to the dealer anyways for my service and this issue along witha complete detail from the winter. So any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
yohy
There are two sets of pads, called stabilizers that support the window. Sometimes grit gets caught between the pad and the window, this will create the "fingernails on a blackboard" sound. If this is where the sound is coming from, try either adjusting the pad (you will have to take the inner door panel off) or flushing around the pad. The attachment will detail the position of the stabilizers (#2).
chadwick35/04
Hey man thanks for the help! Good news though it was them, and my car has warranty on it and it was a covered item, thanks again.
yohy
Perfect, glad I was able to help out. Oh, and I love those words, "This will be covered under warranty!" Just for reference, if you ever see a car with vertical scratches in the door glass, it's due to road grime getting caught in those pads.
greenleg88
is it a pain to take the door apart and clean them? everytime i wash the car i drop the window a day or two later and those scratches are there. and it just bothers me.
yohy
It's strange, some cars don't have any problems and some it's constant, my '97 L was the worst. Go figure.
