ballpeen1
hello, first subaru, first post!!! i am driving a 1990 loyale wagan 4WD, 5 speed push button. paid 50 dollars for it and use it as a second car and to have fun with, sorta needs a clutch but engine runs super and trans and everything works well. just did the front bearings, and one spindle is in bad shape, also i need a rear drum backing plate and all the brake parts. currently driving without that side rear brake. the cv's are all fine but the boots look old. my friend has a 84 or 85 gl wagon that i can get very cheap for parts. it has junk engine. but it is an auto trans. first, would the spindles/knuckles be the same?, and also the rear backing plates and brakes and maybe even the other stuff back there? and of course the cv's i need to know if they also interchange to my car. this could save me alot of money if i can get this all off one car. thanks alot and have a good day. ihscout54
If it is an '84 (ea81) then no, very little will be interchangeable. If it is an '85 (ea82) then yes it would be a fair parts car. There will be some differences Carb Vs. F.I. auto vs. manual etc. Is the body like yours?
ballpeen1
i see, i am waiting to hear from him on the year. but he said it was the same body style as mine. so it must be an 85.
Turbone
Its possible the rear brakes might interchange, I'm not 100% sure on that tho. Also, the rear axles might work in a pinch. They will be a little shorter than the Loyale.
