Distributor for an 87 RX

Recommended Posts

so what i need is a distributor for my rx. i actually already went and got one off of a different turbo wagon that i found and everything was looking good. well i went to install it and the plug was different. the serial number on the side was just one number off. and when i called and asked about it, they said that its just that one number that is the problem. so i need a distributor with the serial number: 22100AA410. the one i got before was: 400 at the end rather than the 410. so if anybody has one they want to get rid of or sell. please let me know. i need to get this car back up and running. its my work car. thanks

there are 2 styles of (optical) distributor, either will work.

the spfi disty has a short rotor and a round shaft

the turbo disty has a taller rotor and cap, and a d-shaped shaft.

the plug is round for 85-86. 88 and up has a square plug.

for 87, the spfi has a round plug, and mpfi has square plug.

you can swap the pigtails from one disty to the other and that will work.

otherwise, i have a disty from an 87 rx i am yanking today. email if interested milesfox@yahoo.com

Thought i would throw this is here for Milesfox, Which Ea82T Distributors have the keyed rotor and which ones have the screw rotor?

Seems every time i try to get a new rotor for my 87 RX with the screw rotor it doesnt fit,The screw hole is off

Thanks

this is for 2k4 sti. i have ran into that in the past also. now what i do is bring in my old one and when they bring me the part, i check it out right there to make sure that its a match. those years are a pain some times.

Thats what i ended up doing, but hate to have to order a part only to find out it is the wrong one and have to wait longer.

And with the keyed rotor you wouldnt have to worry about the screw coming out,Extra Insurance.
