The Dude Abides
Now my car wont start, warm or cold weather without giving it gas. The dead spots when driveing im thinking its connected. Dirty fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, what else could it possibly be.
erik litchy
check the throttle position sensor with an ohmmeter. check the Idle Air Control Valve for dirt
4x4_Welder
Check the rubber boot/tube from the air cleaner to the throttle body (or turbo if so equipped). There was a fitting on mine that was popped apart, before I found and fixed this my car would do the same thing, plus the warm idle was crap. The Dude Abides
Ok ive got a new problem with this now. It has a terrible stumble when cold. I almost got tagged in an intersection yesterday with this. If its cold and i take off it will just hardly move at all. It will buck and kick until i push in the clutch and give the engine hell. What else could it possibly be.

The Dude Abides
Sorry i didnt specify. 1988 subaru dl fuel injection 200k plugs, wires replaced. Fuel filter within the last 3 years, iac cleaned, ive used seafoam in the gastank within the last year. After its warmed up it runs better. Ive had some people say it could be off a tad bit in the timeing. Its always been sluggish from 1st to 2nd. Im thinking cap and rotor. It has the idle when warmed up where it keeps idleing then burping down over and over again. Runs tons better when its in the upper rpm band. 4x4_Welder
Did you check the intake boot? A leak there will cause problems, since the engine will be getting air the computer doesn't know about.
