EVOthis
Hey Fellas...Been working on my WRX alot lately...So just though I would share the progress..I just recently installed the rollcage, push button ignition and some different parts of the IC piping...Currently im working on fabbing up a decent size piece of aluminum so i can make the rear seat area look tidier...Sometime in the not so distant future I will be racing a Supercharged 383 Stroker (540 HP) (4500 lb car) (my Dad)...Do you think I stand a chance.....Seriously.....Any Ideas? Constructive Criticism? etc... Here Are some recent pics.... Edited April 4, 2009 by EVOthis
subaru360
Nice! What's the rollcage for? Drag racing? Road racing? Kinda looks like an NHRA legal cage. What air-oil seperator is that you have? Do you have it draining back into the block or do you dump it out when it's full? Depending on where you raced, you'd have a chance, on the street I'd bet on the WRX. On a dragstrip with the chevy on slicks it would be a good run. Both should run in the 11's right?
Durania
I like it, would love to see more exterior shots. I don't think I could ever put a roll cage in a car for a daily driver. Your uses may be different though.
EvilDead
Looks nice man. Rocking bugeye! Wanna race?

The cage I actually got from AutoPower...Its a bolt-in 6 pt...Its for the 1/4....I doubt ill be running an 11.49 though...lol The previous owner of the car acutally made the catch can...it is a recirc which is kind of nice so i dont have to worry about it getting full...Its nice to not see any oil in the IC or anything.... Im hoping I run an 11.??...Apparently from the latest dyno number his engine makes like 540 and mine makes like 510...he just doesnt really respect 4 cyl "tuners" hes an old school chevy 350 and BB guy you know the "american V8"...lol...However with a good launch on my car Ill prob strip the teeth right off of first gear..lol (stock 5 spd).. How are you making out with your REX?

How are you making out with your REX? I just put 860cc injectors in mine. I got a 20G turbo for it, but it has a defect and has to go back, so I didn't get to put it on yet. Hoping for high 11's when it's done. It's running 12's now.
bratman18
I really like it!! Very nice and clean. I think your car with that much power should eat that chevy! I've seen it happen a lot. The chevy is still quite a bit heavier than your Rex. And all wheel drive, even if he had slicks on, I think yours would have a better launch. carfreak85
Just doing the math you have a better power to weight ratio. That being said, your old man's car is probably built for the 1320, hard launches all day, 540hp all day. Despite that, I think you can beat him. You will NOT beat him off the line, sadly, if you want your trans to stay healthy, but even if you can stay close, you should pass him by the timing lights. Just one question though, why did you install a starter button?!?
3eyedwagon
I'm still trying to figure out what GM you could be racing that weighs 4500 pounds. A fully loaded stock 60s Impala weighs under 4000, so is this engine in a truck? Either way, if he's back halved or has any good rearend geometry; you're probably in trouble. You both have around 520hp, but what are the torque numbers?

As for the starter button...I actually made a little brace and bracket it fits right overhead to the right of the driver....I have always loved the "race" cars that have there little control box mounted overhead of the driver to control engine start, fuel pumps etc...So for $15 (self installed) I just had to pop one in....
