94gtmayhem
Hi to anyone who replies to this, I drive a 97 legacy outback wagon and im looking for a little upgrade now that the na 2.5 has expired. Im looking into purchasing a jdm sti swap with a manual trans as well cause im currently automatic. Im not sure what the engine code is, but its not the new sti motor, its the 98 model 280hp. I was wondering if anyone has done a swap like this and can give me input on what problems i might run into, and parts i will need to change. I am a technitian for acura so I am gear savy and will be doing the swap myself. I'd appreciate any info anyone can supply me with, thanks and take care... zstalker
http://www.nasioc.com/ yes, it's an impreza site, but since Subaru cars are all pretty much built like Lego's, all their information will be the same as your car. LOTS of people doing similar swaps...that's the Mecca for newer Subaru modification. ~Erik~

s'ko
your location says Hollywood so I am assuming California. Welcome to the board. First you might have some problems w/CA SMOG if you want this to be street legal or you can go the other $$route$$ at the testers. the swap seems pretty straightforward. OBD2-OBD2. You might even be able to tell the CARB ref that it's a 2002 turbo motor, as long as you set up the motor the same in terms of looks and exhaust configuration. I have gotten two swapped EA cars past the CA smog ref so let me know if you need help. The guy at El Camino Comm college is great and very fair. have fun BW
94gtmayhem
Hey thanks for your responses guys, this info will help me out alot. I was thinking its a simple obd2-obd2 swap, im sure the other forum will answer specific details i might need to work out. And as far as Hollywood, im actually in Hollywood florida so I wont have to worry about Cali's strick emissions polocies lol thank God! I am looking forward to the swap, and cant wait to share pics and video with the forum!
