weber on an MPFI EA82

Recommended Posts

I Don`t Know about Carburetors adapted on EA82 Spider intakes, but Here is a Friend, Scott in Bellingham Who Build Great Lift Kits, Adapter Plates etc... and the intake to Run a Weber Carburetors on EJ Series FI Engines...

See: http://www.sjrlift.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=98

Maybe he can Help you to Build Something to Run a Weberized Spider Intake, it will Sound Great & Loudly!

Kind Regards.

anyone ever been there? Would I attach it to the spider or????

OR....

shall I just make a manifold adaptor and attach a 40 or 45mm side draft where the throttle body is???!!!!

Bill

I would think it would be easier to adapt a non-spider MPFI manifold to Carb (Turbo GL or early XT)

It has a lower profile, and a vertically mounted Throttle body, so remove the throttle body and put a weber carb on it will be easier than using a side draft. it is pretty much identical to the carb manifolds, except dual port, so it should have less issue with pooling of fuel than the spider intake.

Now, you do know you will need to pull the turbo pistons out and put in higher comp carb/spfi pistons. Otherwise the car will run like a dog, a 50hp one.

If you aren't trying to eliminate a turbo, why would you want to switch it to carbed? To make less power and use more gas?

IDK, I suppose if you put a bad-rump roast carb and Cams in it you might benifit, but it would be alot of work for not much gain.

But yes, you would need a low pressure pump for the carb.

proposing the switch because I can't keep it running due to an electrical failure somewhere in the ignition that after almost 2 years I have yet to be able to fine. If I switch the car to a points/Petronix type distributor, I have to switch to carb since there will be no signal for the FI to fire from

have you pulled up passenger seat and the carpet and checked the wiring harness that runs along the rocker sill?

hmm....If you are gonna swap to carb, I would think the easiest would be to just grab a whole EA82 Carbed motor and drop it in. The difference between dual and single port heads is not much.
