Rooster2
I have never seen it discussed, but when a 2.5 first gen motor goes bad from the years 97 through 2000, does it make sense to replace it with a second gen 2.5 motor from a later model Subie? Seems like a later model motor could be had with a lot less miles on the motor than a 2.2 made in roughly the mid 90's. Seems like any 2.2 motor that I ever see in a wrecking yard has super high millage on it. Would the 2.5 gen two be an easy transplant? Any dialogue would be appreciated. idosubaru
it's been discussed before. you can find more info here. of course newer, lower mileage motors are nice. your logic gets blown apart at price points. EJ22's don't compare in price to EJ25's at all. completely different markets. yes, there are lots of high mileage EJ22's, but there are plenty of later 90's lower mileage ones out there too. you'll pay more...but you'll still pay way more for a newer Gen EJ25 or any EJ25 for that matter.
