So here I am driving my 2008 Outback home from the beach on a smooth road. The car felt like I hit a pothole and the engine quit. I drifted to the side of the road. Nothing on the guages and no idiot lights or check engine lights. Checked all my fluid levels and tried to restart the car. Turned right over like nothing had ever happened. Drove the next 150 miles without a problem. Any ideas as to the issue?

Thanks for any help,

David

You stated that the dash was basically dead when this happened. If the key was in the RUN position and the dash was dead then either the ignition switch had a connection problem or there is a faulty connection in the main power bus to the accessories. Also make sure the battery cables are snug, not over tight though. Tapping on suspected trouble spots with a screwdriver handle may show something up.

Drove the car to work today without any problems. Maybe someone can answer. With the anti-theft key system, if the battery in the key is getting low would that cause the car to turn off like it was a fake or non-transmitter key?
