5 lug swap questions dont judge befor you read

ok so i searched and read. i have a set of 17 inch TSWs on my legacy and i have a parts legacy i want to use it for parts for my 89 coupe i know i can use the fronts and i know what has to be done but i would also like to use the rears for the 5 lug swap aswell what to i have to do to put the rear hubs on my coupe i know the tophats are different on the rear struts but would i be able to use the spindal/backing plates/breaks ect. on the rear of my coupe ? im using an ea82 turbo trans and rear diff. with 25 spline in the front 23 in the rear let me know thanks guys

EJ rears do not swap onto EA rears. This is subject to "judging" so watch out! it's been asked dozens of times! go take a look at them and you'll see why, completely different set up. of course anything can be done, you can install duallies or a jet engine in your car if you have enough time, money, and/or fab skills!

hey thnx for the reading guys im gonna pull both the legacy stuff and my coupe stuff and check it out see if i can make lemonade with the lemons i have haha as i dont really have money for a 5 lug swap but all in time i suppose. thanks again and anyone that has info or pics plz dont hold your tongue let me know.

you're actually trying to make lemonade with oranges.

 

splines are different in almost every dimension.

 

 

your only chance, short of re-machining the spindle/hub to match, is to find another bearing that will fit in the EA trialing arm, but allow the EJ hub to be pressed inside it, and then use the EJ axles.

if you plan on using all EJ stuff, you still need 1 item in order for it to work. The XT6 hubs for the rears. That is the holy grail of the 5-lug swap. You can somehow modify everything else to get it to work but in order to do any 5-lug swap, thats the piece you need.

 

For me, I opted for direct bolt in for now. I have only XT6 front and rear swaybars, rear hubs and backing plates, front lower control arms and outer tie rod ends.
