99 Forester Dash Vent Removal

Featured Replies

I need to remove the top of the dash storage compartment to fix the spring assembly that keeps the lid open. As well, I'd like to remove the in dash cup holder that's just under the centre dash vents. It's had coffee splilled on it so many times it is just gummed up.

I've removed the two screws that are are on both sides of the cup holder (seen once its opened fully), and the two screws behind the rectangular plugs on both sides of the top of the dash storage compartment. The top storage compartment is now loose to some extent along with the centre dash grills, but I'm missing something somewhere, because the entire assembly won't come out of the dash with gentle but firm coaxing. I'm afraid that something is going to break.

Has anyone been there and done this before?
