greenleg88 Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 so im looking through this haynes manual... it says for the caliper support bracket, to torque the bolts: front - 51-65 ft-lb rear: 16-23 and the slider/ lock pins front: 25-33 rear: 144-204 do these sound correct? it seems strange to me. i had thought around 80 or so for the support bracket and around 30 for the caliper lock pins on the front and rear... im just wondering if this is a typo in the haynes manual... idosubaru Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 brake component torques are not critical at all. complete waste of time, unless you're new and not comfortable. otherwise these bolts hold no tolerance or critical torque values what so ever. if you've done enough work and feel comfortable with torquing them yourself, just do it that way. they just need to be "tight enough" not to come loose. no one...certainly very few folks on here and no mechanics...torque those bolts with an actual torque wrench, i never have. nipper Posted May 2, 2009 Share Posted May 2, 2009 Every single bolt in a car has a torque value, that doesnt mean that you should use a torque wrench on everything.
