ace00959
What is the most likely problem if the driver side seatbelt is starting to stay in the door open position more and more frequently? A relay somewhere to be changed? Will this issue drain battery if car is parked for a period? Thank you in advance.
zyewdall
Does the dome light go off light it should when you close the door? Could be as simple as the switch the indicates that the door is closed is not working as well as it used to.
ace00959
I keep the dome light to the off position. I am in and out of the car so many times when working on it that I would just leave front door ajar to avoid the constant seatbelt movement, and dome light off to avoid battery drain. Will seatbelt being stuck in door open position drain battery? I will check to see if dome light goes off, but the red door indicator on gauge panel is not illuminated when door is closed, and is illuminated when door is open. Thank you for the reply. zyewdall
Don't know on the battery drain. I've never owned a car with the auto seatbelts. I just know that the door indicator switches tend to fail on these alot, especially, if you get dirt and stuff in them (down low, offroading does that.. But, if the red indicator is not on, it sounds like it hasn't failed.

ace00959
That troubleshooting link does not work for me. I have searched the old posts and found some information, but nothing about battery drain or exactly where the limit switches are, or what they look like. I'll keep researching. Thank you for your efforts. A.J.
zyewdall
If it's just an issue of worrying about battery drain, you could measure the current from the battery with it there, and see if it's drawing anything or not. Remember, you're also measuring the drain from the radio presets, clock, etc, in additon to any other phantom loads. Z
