Anyone have advice for pulling a tranny in the pullnsave, they don't allow jacks or power tools and I am wondering what others have done to "catch" that baby when it drops:eek:. I will be working solo on this:rolleyes:..............G

Never did a Suby tranny in a JY.

Some of those places have jersey barriers and for a few bucks they will take the car, put it on the jersey barriers so that you can remove the tranny.

Tires are always my landing pad of choice.

Often they don't allow floor jacks - but the screw jacks you get out of the cars are allowed. Along with old rims as jack stands. Tedious but I've done it on other cars.

I actually pull the engine first and then use the engine hoist (that my pick and pull provides) to pull the tranny right out the front.

That's the way to do it. I pull both the engine and transmission together. It makes it much easier separating the transmission from the engine when it is hanging in the air as the alignment pins can really bind. When you have the whole thing in front of you it makes the separation much easier. You should be able to do the whole pull in under 2 hours, even if it's your first time.
