Does the parkinglight (font) have a relay?

Recommended Posts

Still trying to figure out what is wrong, when I turn on the parking lights my rear lights come on with no issues however my front's don't at all.. but here is the thing when I turn on the turn signal or hazard lights the front parking lights will flash normal but they just don't work when the turn signal is not on and the parking lights are on..

A quick search on NASIOC shows a few have this issue but no follow up's have been done regarding it..

all my fuses seem to be good as well as the under hood fuses. What should I check next? It's been like this going on 3 months almost.

My car is a 1995 Legacy L wagon.

If you are saying that the front turn signals flash is bright and not dull like the parking light wattage, I'd change out the bulbs with new ones to make sure your bulbs are good before going any further.

Correct and already changed the bulbs had no effect.

Are you saying that none of the front parking lights come on whether you use the parking light switch (engine off) or if you use the lighting switch (engine running)?

And no they don't come on in the front if you use the parking switch or the switch on the stalk. Regardless if the engine is running or not.

Based on those answers, even though you said that the fuses seem to be good, I'd suggest rechecking them -- specifically, fuse #23 in the main box and fuse #5 in the fuse/relay box. Otherwise, it would appear that you have a wiring/connector problem. Is a voltmeter available?

I will check tomorrow since I need to do a little work on the car and yes I have a voltmeter.. never leave home without it!

fuse 23 in the main box is for my AC

fuse 5 in the car is for the tail light right side.

Since I determined which fuses were applicable from a non-Subaru diagram, I rechecked using the FSM. The FSM wiring diagrams show the same fuses as I previously posted affect the parking (side marker and clearance) lights, but furthermore that the circuit powers the rear as well as the front ones. Therefore, if either fuse was blown, the rear lights would be out as well as the fronts, so the fuse issue is moot.

If your car is wired differently than the FSM shows, any additional info I provide may not be valid for you.

Assuming a 1995 Legacy that's wired as the FSM shows, pin #1 (red colored wire) of connector F40 is where the front parking lights (high side) connect to the rest of the circuit. Since that pin is at one end of the connector, it's possible that if the two halves aren't correctly mated, the front lights won't be powered. I've attached a diagram of the connector.
