shaner
So I have my 02 Outback fresh from having the heater core replaced and now the A/C is acting up. Sometimes while running the A/C (which seems to be cooling fine) and then after I cut the car off it sounds like a horn is going off (emitting a tone) in the engine. It will last from 5 to 20 seconds after the car is off. Any ideas? Thanks!
Legacy777
Can you pinpoint where the noise is coming from? Sometimes you can have pressure leak by from the high side to low side, but that is typically more of a hissing sound.
mdjdc
What you are hearing is the high pressure gasses going thru the orifice tube in the system. Have it checked out, but it is probably nothing to worry about.
porcupine73
Foghorn a/c related sound is often the metering/expansion valve at the evaporator.
shaner
Foghorn a/c related sound is often the metering/expansion valve at the evaporator. If that is the case what is the best way to have that fixed? And what level of expense are we talking about?
