Ehh, no.

Never seen one badged as a "Special Edition".

And all the RX's that I know of have PW.

Get more info and/or pics!

mcgus1 found this car, and will hopefully get mystery solving pics for us in a few days.

Yea it seems weird alright.

thats funny, Datsun at the same year had a "Black Gold" edition 280zx.

it had all the fancy stuff....no offence to subaru stuff but i think the Z was better.

infact that 280zx at the arlington PAP is a "black gold" car

I'd be ok with it if its in good condition. If the price is right and its an actual black RX, yes, yes I'd like to have it. I'd put my drivetrain into it and get rid of the EA82T.

As far as I know though, there weren't any numberings on them. My old black RX didn't have anything except the regular RX stickers.

Robert,

Thanks for the call this morning. Seems like this car is a big mystery. I can't make it over to the yard until Earliest Friday, but probably not till next week. And I will take lots of pics and post them. But here's something interesting I just saw on CL, in Colo Springs...

The black one in the yard is just like it as far as I remember. But I didn't really pay attention to the details like I will next time (as you know, I have my eye on something else there)

I think I will email this guy and tell him he's wrong about the EJ engines mating up to the tranny :-\

Doesnt work without a adapter plate.

Cant wait for pics of the black RX.

Didn't know anybody willingly swapped in an EJ25 either-

Lose the turbo, keep the headgasket issues.

Robert,

Okay, mystery solved...and my bad. On further inspection (I only glanced at it sideways last time) it isn't an RX at all, but a non-turbo 2-door slant-back, FWD, manual, Star Edition 33 of 50 (I took pics if you want me to send them to you). Typical CO car, no rust, a few dings, etc. But the yard owner is out of touch. Wanted $800 for a non-running w/ trashed int, '88 XT6. Got my runner for $400 a month ago, private party.

i'd take any EJ engine over an EA82T. but if you're doing a custom engine swap, wiring, ECU and all, head gaskets are negligible anyway.
