greenleg88
have the person that owned it take you for a ride. assuming its one owner, you can see how they drive. if thats not possible, just take it for a drive.. if the catch point feels weird you know its been worn. my roomate who ruined his clutch - i can be driving in 3rd gear at 2000 rpm and put the pedal down, the rpms will shoot up but the car doesnt accelerate at all... i doubt cars get that bad... my roomate is kinda of the biggest idiot ive ever met it makes me uncomfortable there are people like him... HAHAHA! Trust me, I've driven worse. My GF's car for example or the 94 parts lego I just bought. Back on topic... I would leave the car off and play with the shifter. Rapid fire shift from 1-5 with the car off and the clutch pedal out. Check for any sloppiness in the synchros and for any stiffness in the shifter. Next, start the car and while idling, push the clutch in, and do the same test as when the car was off. If there is any catching, the clutch may be out of adjustment or the synchros may be worn, and if the clutch is out of adjustment and the car was driven for a time with it out of adjustment, then the synchros are most likely worn. Hope it helps! Twitch
