EA 71 / EA 81 ignition wiring diagram

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I bought a Suburu EA-71 engine in order to replace a Rotax in a ultra light airplane ( ballerit HM 1000)

The ignition coil was missing, I bought one from another subaru vendor.

The problem is that there is no spark at the ignition coil output. I maybe made a wrong connection but I don't find any wiring diagram.

My hall sensor has to wires : yellow and Black/white.

Ignition coil has to pi : + and -

I have connected

Sensor:

sensor yellow <--> battery +

sensor black&white <-> coil +

coil - <---> ground = battery -

I am wondering now if there is any control unit between coil and sensor..

Does anybody can help ??

Thanks a lot if any idea

I will bought a repairing manual but not sure to find this diagram inside...

Thanks a lot!

Hope the engine will start now..!

I discovered pinout connections of the sensor/ignition module :

but they are exactly inverted...an idea of the good one ?

It seems also that we can find the same module in

Honda civic 1300 from 1980 to 1983

http://www.hondapartsnow.com/Page_Product/PartDetail.aspx?catalogID=22&productID=4&yearID=13&doorID=2&gradeID=56&areaID=3&transmissionID=3&originID=-1&colorLabelIDs=-1&colorLabelID=-1&sectionID=1&idAndImageID=3844%20457257&refNo=12&isBigPicture=False&pageName=&appid=4190

And I guess in other car : Nissan but don't know which one ..

You should have power on the blk/wht wire, if not check your fuses. This comes from the ignition switch and ties to the plus side of the coil. The yellow wire goes to the angle sensor and ties to the minus side of the coil.

Cougar, you are perfectly right Cougar!

:banana:

I did exactly the reverse connection... :mad:

Following your information : now it is working perfectly : almost 2 cm spark turning slowly delco by hand! :)

Just have to put back in the engine and it should start!!

So here is what I did to make it work :

1) This is the Sensor/Ignition Module with 2 pins : Coil (yellow), +12v (black/white)

------

/ |

| |_____

| Coil )

| O )

| + _____)

\ |

\ |

-------

I connect Coil (yellow) to Minus (-) of ignition coil

I connect + of sensor (black/white) to +12v

I connect + of ignition coil to +12v

Its seems so easy now, but I didn't even know if a intermediate module was missing or not since I got the engine without the car

So http://www.mobiletron.com.tw/detail_main.asp?ID=978 is wrong for me

but http://www.nbhuaao.com/en/proview.asp?P_ID=1022 is ok

In order to help people with broken ignition module (but it seems to be very strong since I made reverse connection and bad wiring, and still alive now!)
