Since its going to be a wheeler and it has the d/r tranny can i weld up the spider gears in the rear diff and not have any issues during road driving. How complicated is it to weld up the gears. SoobieDoo
If it's a daily driver, then the welded diff may not be the best choice. It will skip during sharp turns, such as parking lots and cause premature tire wear. You could always weld up a spare and just swap them out before wheelin. mcbrat
I ran a welded diff, and just pulled one of the rear axles for daily driving.....
SoobieDoo
I ran a welded diff, and just pulled one of the rear axles for daily driving..... Excellent idea! I'd much rather store just an axle and not have to buy an extra diff.
86HatchShelby
Ran a welded diff with both axles in the back for over a year, no problems... rear tire blew up mysteriously though Just pull an axle in the back -Jaren
Sweet82
You can pull the axle in 2 minutes or less! Once it's been out the first time... I used a nail to keep my axle in/out for a year.
Phizinza
I've been using a welded diff in my sedan with both axles in for about 6 months now. Although the car doesn't get much driving. I found pumping the 27" MT's up to 40psi in the rear really helped with screeches, heavy steering, and economy. I'd take out a shaft but I've got a lot of dirt roads around my place and 3WD sucks...
