Mykeys Toy
Ok well I am not my boy is.. Anyone got ideas on the easiest way to do it, or a place to start that me simplify it. I will help him but the project is his. The only harness I have ever touched was in a 69 mustang that took like an hour. I am open to any and all suggestions. TomRhere
Haven't pulled one from a Wagon, so I can't say what to do on the rear wiring, except it runs down the PS under the sill trim. Everything that heads for the back, plugs-in behind the PS kick panel. For the front wiring, everything will feed back into the interior. Gets a little tricky when you get to the point of a few connectors going back thru the hole at the same time, but you just need to feed them thru one at a time as you work the harness thru. Some of the harnes is held with releasable zip-ties, most of it is not. Getting to the backside to release some of the latter ones is a bit of a pain in places. Can't say how long it should take, as I didn't pull the harness all at once. And it's been something like 6 years ago now.
Turbone
Its real simple......if you pull the dash out :-p Better to teach him now, then try later when he thinks he knows it all
'84 Flat-Four
are you pulling everything? Or just the front, just the rear? I've got the FSM and may be able to post some images of the harnesses and such.
Turbone
I will most likely be helping with this job. I live 3mi from him and we need to pull 2 harness's, not just one. I'll pull the first one and his kid can watch. Then he gets to do the other one. Then re-install it in the other car
Mykeys Toy
Oh yes the poor boy has a HUGE learning cuve on this project.. And I did not realize the harness went to all corners of the car. my poor mustang was pretty much all behind the intruments with one or two plugs throught the firewall. BTW Rob I have never removed the dash. I have been lucky enough to get around that fun task.
'84 Flat-Four
Sounds like an awesome learning experience! Very cool! I have never done it myself. In fact, I am about to visit the JY to pull the radio harness, a small job compared to the whole rig. Good luck to you guys! It's good to see the help from one to another... Only 2 areas for potential problems. While removing the bolts on the top corners, its possible to crack the windshield if your not careful. The other is when after installation, the thing will squeak and rattle if you dont get everything tight again.

GeneralDisorder
I've had the pleasure(?) of replacing a half dozen or more EA81 dashes. BAH! EA81's are easy! Try a Legacy with every option in the world! And I did in the POURING rain with myself (6' 2") and the dash IN the car while I replaced the heater core. BIG suck. You have the right man on the job though. GD
