Proof: It does get dirty!

Recommended Posts

Those things are monsters huh? My last set of wheels (peugeot alloys) had a real deep lug hole, and I had trouble getting my normal nuts tight enough with my socket. I had these monstrosities laying around from some raffle I won at a show, the worked fine on those!

I've been thinking about changing them back to my old ones stock style lugs, but I have to find them, then get off my butt and do it.

My wagon runs without a skid plate too. Some of us just like to live dangerously .. like playing baseball without a cup

sooner or later, it might kinda hurt.

3rd place, still got some love for the old 80's stuff. good.

Only thing I don't understand about the stock skid plate is, well ok. the rear bolts to the crossmember (Good) but the front bolts to the bottom of the fairing/smile peice. Now that won't take a hit, unlike the crossmember. Just seemed like the wrong place to mount it thats all.

It actually bolts up to the lower radiator support so it can take some decent hits. I have tested mine plenty, and it has survived:grin:

it's no frame, but it's probably one of the strongest stock parts on the front of the car (an aftermarket bumper would be better....but not the stocker).

sweet pics!! glad to see it kickin it off road! what wheels are those?

Where's the dirt?

Go get get a real 3 door and try again.

I smell a photoshop job ;)

We aren't talking about your wagon...

Those lug nuts remind of the Roman war chariots that had the spikes on the wheels.

So Tex, should we name your wagon Romulus Maximus? :-p

Hahaha, yeah. I really need to do something about those. I call the wagon "Brown Beast".

No skidplate to protect the ole Oil pan?

with all the money spent on this, I would think that would be a must.

I learned to wheel following 2 of the most competent and skilled drivers around. They taught picking lines and finesse will get home at the end of the day.

Before the swap, I had a skid plate. Had the stupid 3" drop block in the front. I hit it on the front more than I got close to hitting it on the bottom. After the swap, I decided to ditch the skid plate. It would have to be way to low to clear the pan. The big thing the skid plate protects on the EA82 cars is the stupid oil sender... Damaging that is a day ender. But with the EJ22, I no longer have that to worry about.

 1st place went to a really really nice xB, and 2nd place went to my teammates super clean Outback.

Nice, I like this wagon (didn't think it was ever took on trails) How did it go up the rocks?

Car doesn't get out as much as it used to. Its hard to find time, and people that are going in comparable rigs/skill level.

The wagon wheeled a lot differently than normal. For one, I didn't have the safety net of big swampers. With my A/T's I have to be a lot more specific where the tires are put. I drive this car as my daily driver, so I have one of the rear axles pulled out. I took an axle with me in case we got to something I couldn't get up, but that didn't happen.

The most difficult climb I had to attempt 3 times... mainly it was trying to figure out the best placement of my single locked rear wheel

I had a friend down at his exhaust shop fab up a new two piece skid plate for my 4" lifted GL-10 with EJ22. Mounting it to the front bumper seemed to be the best option. It goes from the bumper back to the front cross member, then there is a second skid plat going back to the rear of the transmission:

Yeah, well mine's dirty all the time because I never wash it, Mr. Show Car Trailer Queen.

As a matter of fact, I *DO* take my car offroad. Here's the proof:

Why not just show your wagon offroading on the moon while we're at it?

Photo chop! Lol
