mdjdc
I have a 99 foreseter and yesterday I was trying to replace a half shaft. It is frozen in the hub. I sprayed some PB Blaster in there and I am going to give it a few days to see if it comes loose. If not, I am going to have to replace the knuckle. My question is what knuckles are compatible with the forester. Can I go to the JY and get a Legacy knuckle or do I have to find a Forester knuckle? Thanks Guys
johnceggleston
the hub assembly is universal as long as it matches your abs system, meaning i think a 92 legacy would work except for the abs sensor hole. these are rears, fronts crossover the same. item 2 or 3 here: http://opposedforces.com/parts/forester/us_s10/type_3/suspension_and_axle/rear_axle/illustration_1/ click on usage here: http://opposedforces.com/parts/info/28411AA000/ Edited July 17, 2009 by johnceggleston

idosubaru
Legacy, forester, impreza hubs should interchange. I didn't get whether it was front or rear you're after but shouldn't much matter except I don't know much about the H6 stuff so you might want to avoid those. 2001 was when the change occured where ABS tone ring set up was different - being pressed onto the axle instead of in the hub like earlier stuff. So avoid 2001 and up for sure unless you want to "convert" which I doubt it. I've swapped a few front and rear EJ hubs, pretty sure they're just about all interchangeable as long as you have ABS like JCE said.
mdjdc
It is a front hub. I'm hoping that the PB Blaster will work.
idosubaru
You have a puller, if there's something to attach the arms to?
mdjdc
We puta puller on it yesterday and tightned it down with an air gun. Bent the bolt on the puller. I may try putting the hub in a press. Hopefully it won't break.
