Timing Belt Tooth Count / Tensioner Play

Recommended Posts

You're dealing with an interference engine, I would install a perfect tensioner and a perfect tensioner only. Particularly considering the next belt change is 100,000 miles.

I had a sloppy tensioner on an interference EJ22 and off the car it was tight as new. On the car it had slop and the belt was slapping around, glad it didn't let the belt slip.

The price of a new one is really annoying, I do understand that, but for such a new car it's really not worth the risk.
