end of an era

Recommended Posts

Got rear ended yesterday on the freeway.

Driving home from work came to a stop in the number 1 lane. Heard tires screeching behind and though "ohh ooo.. that doesn't sound good, hope they can stop in time.

They screeching continues and I shift into gear attempting to move out of the way towards lane number 2. I think, "well, you have 1/2 of lane number 1 and this massive shoulder to the left that you can move into. Please make it to the shoulder.... BANG....."

Got hit by some lady in a soul-less japanese subcompact. Maybe a kia or something like that.

Her car it toast.

Looks like bob the frankenbrat is a goner.

RIP little fella....

man this is the pits..

hope you find another to replace it with. I would attempt the repair using a come-along and some patience and something solid to attach the come-along too.

Get some flat steel and use bolts nuts and washers to anchor it to the sheet metal and pull in a few different areas, a little at a time it will pop out pretty good.

Unfortunatly from the pics, it looks like it buckled the body up at the top of the topper on the roofline area. If thats the case, no amount of come alonging will fix it which is sad but if you're ok, thats the most important thing. If anything, you could always fight with the insurance and get another Brat shell and swap everything into it:banana:

yep it did buckle there. the driver side door area is also slightly buckled. I had to shove to get the door open. :(

Truly sad pics and news, for sure.

Have to agree on the amount of damage, and pulling it back out. Be one tough job to do, and it would never be right. Costly for sure....

And speaking from experience. Do get your self checked out good.

I have a high tollerance for pain, didn't realize I "was" injured in an accident, simular to yours. Came back to bite me many years later.

I went to the ER the night of the accident and left there at 2:30 am:rolleyes:

diagnosis.

1) CT scan shows that I actually DO have a brain and that it's "normal"

2) xray show no damage to the bones in the spine.

I am a bit sore and getting sorer. Low back in stiff. Neck stiff. Will see doctor tomorrow and maybe get some pt.

Man that sucks, but I am glad you're ok...

Looks like the structural integrity of the rig is gone, the only thing I could see be done with it now is try to straighten it out a little and brace any structural parts that buckled with some plate, then full cage, 4 or 6" lift, and make it strictly an off-roader

Im sure you can get a fair price from the insurance company as long as you fight them hard. Edrach does have a lot of experience in that area, best talk to him...

Glad you're OK... sorry about the BRAT.

If you go see your general practitioner, they'll probably give you pain meds and tell you you're ok. But CTs and X-rays can't check for soft tissue damage and other stuff normally associated with whiplash.

Go see a chiropractor. Since the other person's insurance is probably paying for it anyway, it's good to get the opinion of someone who specializes in back/auto injuries... but this is an "always Always ALWAYS" when it comes to auto accidents.

I myself was hit a couple years ago and my GP said "take vicodin and call me later." I hate narcotics, so instead I went and saw a chiro and he put me through a course of treatments over two months and my back ended up feeling better afterwards than BEFORE the accident.

Hey S'ko

After my wifes accident they went to the er and then after we got back to California ( it happened in the middle of the desert in Nev and I had to go get her and the kid) I took my kid to his doctor and took my wife to an Orthopedic specialist to go through her neck, back, shoulder and arm. The airbag deployment hit her pretty hard. Its helpful if you have health insurance. Accidents suck.
